Setting Credentials for 'My Oracle Support' in Grid Control 11g Fails with "Networking error: Unable to connect to My Oracle Support" due to Incorrect Realm Setting for the Proxy

(Doc ID 1151893.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 17, 2017

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for My Oracle Support - Version to [Release 10.2 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Navigating to the 'My Oracle Support' tab in 11g Grid Console, entering the username / password and clicking on the 'Apply' button returns the error:

Networking error: Unable to connect to My Oracle Support

Alternatively sometimes this error may be shown:

Sorry, My Oracle Support appears to be down

The <EM_INSTANCE_HOME>/sysman/log/emoms.trc shows:

2010-05-26 11:36:13,848 [518::EMUI_11_36_13_/console/pref/mosCredentials] ERROR creds.MOSPrefCredentialsHandler performOneOffLogin.461 - Exception while mosHelper.createMOSState in performOneOffLogin:Unable to get login XML: Cannot establish proxy connection: 407 Proxy Authentication Required

- The communication from the Grid Console to the My Oracle Support needs to go via a Proxy Server. The proxy server details have been entered in the Setup -> Patching Setup page and the 'Test' button for the 'Patch Search URL' works fine with these settings.
