11g Grid Control: Using 'opmnctl startall | status | stopall' in OMS_HOME Fails with "opmnctl: ORACLE_INSTANCE is not set" (Doc ID 1160335.1)

Trying to start the Grid Control with opmnctl command fails with the following errors.

cd <OMS_HOME>/opmn/bin>
./opmnctl startall

opmnctl: ORACLE_INSTANCE is not set.

opmnctl status requires that ORACLE_INSTANCE be correctly set in your

Make sure you are using ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin/opmnctl, or set ORACLE_INSTANCE
in your environment.

Similar errors occur when using the below commands:

cd <OMS_HOME>/opmn/bin
opmnctl status
opmnctl stopall
opmnctl startproc process-type=OHS
opmnctl stopproc process-type=OHS, etc
