Goal

This document describes how to change the Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) version used by the Grid Control Management Agent, if the current version is not a certified version (See table in Step 2 below).

Solution
 Step 1. Check the current java version
 Step 2. Compare the current java version with the certified java version for the Grid Control Management Agent
 Step 3. Download the java version certified for the Grid Control Management Agent Release if different than the current java version
 Step 4. Extract or Install Java to $ORACLE_HOME/jdk_upgrade
 Step 5. Stop the Grid Control Management Agent
 Step 6. Backup the old JDK and JRE
 Step 7. Patch the JDK
 Step 8. Check the Java version to make sure it has been upgraded
 Step 9. Restart the Grid Control Management Agent
 Step 10. Remove the directory $JDKDOWNLOAD
