EM 11g: Dropping the SYSMAN and SYSMAN_MDS Schemas from the Repository Database after a Failed Enterprise Manager 11.1.0.1 Installation Is a Mandatory Action before Reinstalling (Doc ID 1274474.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 10, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 11.1.0.1 to 11.1.0.1 [Release 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Article is current 29-Nov-2014

Goal

An existing database that is going to be used as the repository database should not have a SYSMAN or SYSMAN_MDS schema in it according to this reference:

Oracle(R) Enterprise Manager
Grid Control Basic Installation Guide
11g Release 1 (11.1.0.1.0)
E15838-06
Table 2–2 Prerequisites for Installing Enterprise Manager System

The SYSMAN and SYSMAN_MDS schema may be present if a prior installation of Grid Control 11g had failed in the configuration steps.
The goal of this note is to provide instructions on how to drop the SYSMAN and SYSMAN_MDS schema from the repository database, in this case, so it can be used for subsequent installations of Grid Control 11.1.0.1.

The OMS Oracle Home directory from the failed installation must be available for this procedure.

Note: This note applies only to repository components left over from a failed original installation of Grid Control 11g. Failed upgrades will require restoration of the original Grid Control environment and the instructions herein do not apply.
