Oracle Real User Experience Insight (RUEI) is a tool to monitor web sites round the clock. The standard Oracle Database that is created by the RUEI installation procedure is configured to create minimal disk I/O for use on smaller hardware. For backup and recovery of the database the RUEI documentation refers to standard DBA practice and Oracle Database documentation.
In short the easiest is to create cold backups of the RUEI server. This is however not practical in a 24/7 operation. To enable online backups there are some things that need to change in the database settings.
This note describes some required steps for enabling online database backup for Oracle Real User Experience Insight.

After changing the database according to this note you will be able to schedule backups using any oracle database backup tool, such as RMAN or via Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
