Problem - Event log shows Internal error "ORA-24909" and "processing stopped with exit status 128" (Doc ID 1339958.1)

Symptoms

The logfile and data processing are in error state. Data is only processed once every 20 minutes or so:

When trying to create a helpdesk report an internal error is returned and the following messages appear in the event log:

19 Jul 2011 11:44:29 Internal error (Message 1(24909): ORA-24909: call in progress. Current operation...
19 Jul 2011 11:44:29 Internal error (Database connection lost).
19 Jul 2011 10:06:55 Internal error (command exited with status -1).
19 Jul 2011 10:06:55 Internal error (Message 1(24909): ORA-24909: call in progress.Current operation...
19 Jul 2011 10:06:55 Internal error (Database connection lost).
19 Jul 2011 09:50:01 Logfile processing started.
19 Jul 2011 09:49:50 Logfile processing stopped with exit status 128.
19 Jul 2011 09:49:50 Internal error (command exited with status 128). (Message repeated 3 times)
