Symptoms

Using xpath in RUEI to extract data from the html content may not return any values.
This document addresses some basic steps that can help getting results from an xpath expression.

For this document the following html content example is used:

<html>
  <head><title>example document</title>
</head>
<body class='xyz'>
  <div class="logged_user_bar">
    <span class="user_info">username: <b>John</b></span>
  </div>
</body>
</html>


and the xpath query: /html/body/div[@class='logged_user_bar']
