Last updated on JANUARY 31, 2020

Enterprise Manager for Miscellaneous Plug-ins - Version 10.2.0.5 to 11.1.0.1 [Release 10.2 to 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This Note describes how to disable alerts for unused ports on an Exadata Cisco Ethernet switch target.

If Enterprise Manager triggers an alert indicating that a Cisco Switch Port status Failed, but the port is not in use, then you want to consider the fix in this Note.

Each Exadata rack comes with a 48 port Cisco Switch to accommodate ethernet access to all components in a full rack configuration.  However, 1/2 and 1/4 racks obviously will have vacant ports on the switch.

Grid Control reports status on each interface's activity.  To eliminate these alerts, you can disable metric evaluation for such ports.
