Last updated on SEPTEMBER 14, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.1.0 to 12.1.0.1.0 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The Patch-Plan feature

Starting with Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c, the application of one-off patches for the 12c Management Agents will now be done via the Patch Plan feature.

One of the main benefits of applying patches this way, is that all the pre-checks, patch validation, and ORACLE_HOME validation will be performed prior to incurring target downtime  Any roadblocks will be reported and can be fixed before attempting to install the patch.

This document is a quick reference guide for customers and more information is available in the  Oracle Enterprise Manager Lifecycle Management Administrator's Guide 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1), Part VII Patch Management.

The prerequisites for this feature are:

  1. A Software Library that is configured and operational
  2. The latest version of Opatch must be staged in the Software Library
Note:
1. At the time, this document was created, the latest opatch version was 11.1.0.9.4. In the future, new releases or versions of OPatch will be available and they need to be used as appropriate.
2. If you are using this note as a reference for applying the Bundle Patch 1(BP1) for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 12.1.0.1, then please download the maximum version of 11.1.0.9.x OPatch. Please do not download 11.2 OPatch.

The EM version example used in this article is 12c, but the procedure is similar for EM 13c Cloud Control.
