configuring RMAN under "Backup Settings" within OEM12c fails with : Validation error (Doc ID 1454037.1)

Symptoms

While configuring RMAN under "Backup Settings" the following error can occur:

Validation Error
Examine and correct the following errors, then retry the operation:
Error - Invalid environment variable format, expect name=value format:[le/product/agent12c/core/12.1.0.1.0/perl]


The following entries can occur in the emoms.trc
