Regenerating the EM 12c-WLS Demo Identity Certificate with 1024 bit Keystrength (to fix the browser error: ssl_error_weak_server_cert_key) (Doc ID 1510058.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 20, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.1.0 to 12.1.0.5.0 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
The Windows Security Update patch increases the minimum required key length of ssl certificate from 512 bits to 1024 bits.

As a result, all applications using certificates with a key length less than 1024 bits fail to pass the Security Certificate checks and those applications will not be accessible through IE.

Goal

By default, 10.3.6 WebLogic Server in EM 12c is configured with Demo keystores of keystrength 512 bit.
These keystores are located in the <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/server/lib/ directory. For testing and development purposes, the keystore configuration is complete. However, do not use the demonstration keystores in a production environment.
