EM 12c, EM 13c : How to Control the Size of the SNMPv1 Trap Notification Sent by OMS? (Doc ID 1534343.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 16, 2019

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

SNMP Trap notification method has been configured in the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control setup to send SNMPv1 traps for events to a third party SNMP console. From Enterprise Manager 12c onwards, size of SNMP trap has been increased in order to accommodate all event types and provide more comprehensive information. By default, the maximum SNMP packet size is 5120 bytes (5KB), with more than 80 variables.
However, some SNMP Console tools may have a restriction for the size of the traps that can be received, due to which the SNMP trap sent by the OMS is rejected.

This note provides the steps for reducing the size of the SNMP trap sent by the OMS.
