Last updated on MAY 22, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The concept and function of Notification Rules in the pre-12c Enterprise Manager has been replaced with a two-tier system consisting of Incident Rules and Incident Rule Sets in the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control:

1. Incident Rules: Operate at the lowest level granularity (on discrete events / incidents / problems) and performs the same role as notification rules from earlier releases.

2. Incident Rule Set:  An incident rule set is a set of one or more rules that apply to a common set of objects such as targets (hosts, databases, groups), jobs, or Web applications.  The set of objects to which the rule set applies do not have to be of the same type. A rule set allows you to logically combine different rules relating to the common set of objects (such as jobs, targets, applications) into a single manageable unit.

This document provides details about the Incident Management Rule set and Incident rule features in the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.

Scope

This document is applicable to Enterprise Manager users who would like to understand the Incident Management Rule Set and Incident Rule features in Enterprise Manager Cloud Control.
