How to Run the 12c Metrics Browser on Windows (Doc ID 1584060.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 02, 2019

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version to [Release 12.1]
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)

The metrics browser is a useful tool to see the real time values of the metric data collected by the agent, and to see the underlying xml definitions of these metrics

The following document can be used to set up the metrics browser:-

<Note:1368415.1> "12c Cloud Control Agent: Steps for Enabling and Using the Metric Browser/Agent Browser"

However it can be seen that after enabling the 12c metrics browser on Windows, after entering the log on details, the metrics browser cannot be accessed and the following error is returned :

Problem accessing /emd/browser/login. Reason:    Connection Refused - invalid credentials

By design only the 'Agent install' user or 'root' is allowed to use the metric browser. On windows, the agent gets installed as a Windows service running under the 'SYSTEM' account despite the fact that the agent has been installed as a local windows user.

There is no way for the agent process running as service to determine the install user for the process.

So, in 12c the metric browser authentication can fail.
