EM 12c, EM 13c: Delayed Notification Sent by Rule Created for 'Clear Event'

(Doc ID 1584086.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 24, 2017

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

It has been noticed that email notifications for Warning events are sent after a week from Enterprise Manager Cloud Control. For example:

Email content shows:
Target type: Database instance
severity: Warning
Event reported time: Jul 12, 2013 1:16:57 PM WST
Event Type : Metric Alert
Event name: User Audit: username
Email was received on 19/072013 1:17 PM, after a week.

In this case, the email is sent by the out-of-box METRIC_ALERT_AUTO_CLEAR rule. The out of box "Rule to auto-clear metric alert events older than 7 days" or the internal name - METRIC_ALERT_AUTO_CLEAR rule is supposed to automatically clear alerts raised for stateless metrics which are open for more than 7 days and are not associated with an incident. Similar configuration is described in

Note 1559436.1 - 12c Cloud Control: How to Configure Incident Rule to Automatically Clear Stateless Metric Alerts?

The same issue can occur for a custom incident ruleset as well.
