EM12c, EM13c : Changes to the Metric Alert Log Monitoring in Database Plug-in 12.1.0.4 and later
(Doc ID 1587020.1)
Last updated on MAY 09, 2023
Applies to:
Enterprise Manager for Oracle Database - Version 12.1.0.4.0 and later Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
With Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.3, a new Database Plugin 12.1.0.4 was also released. This plugin contains a new text-based alert log metric called 'DB Alert Log' which is a recommended replacement for the original Alert Log metric. The new ‘DB Alert Log’ metric has been enhanced to automatically de-duplicate alerts that pertain to the same ORA error stack detected in the alert log. Specifically, if the same ORA error stack has been detected multiple times in the alert log, only 1 metric alert will be generated instead of multiple metric alerts. As new occurrences of the same ORA error stack are found, the occurrence count associated with the alert will be updated to track these occurrences. As part of the cutover to the new DB Alert Log metric, when the Database Plugin 12.1.0.4 is deployed, the original Alert Log metric will have its collection schedule disabled if no user customizations have been done to it. The DB Alert Log metric will be enabled by default.
