12c Unable to Clear Alert for Failed Disk After Blackout on Exadata Cell Server

Information in this document applies to any platform.
A flash or hard disk is scheduled for replacement on an Exadata cell server.
In order to prevent alerts from occurring during the disk replacement, a blackout is created on the cell server target within the 12c Cloud Control console.
Once the disk is replaced the blackout is lifted.
Unfortunately the alert for the failed disk never clears.
