Instructions to Install BDA Plug-in on Oracle Big Data Appliance (BDA) V2.*/V3.0.*/V3.1/V4.* (Doc ID 1682558.1)

Last updated on JUNE 07, 2021

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Big Data Appliance - Version and later
Linux x86-64

Provides installation details for installing Oracle Enterprise Manager System Monitoring Agent and BDA Plug-in on the Oracle Big Data Appliance (BDA) V2.*/V3.0.*/V3.1/V4.* using mammoth-reconfig script.

Note:- On BDA the only supported way of deploying the Agent and Plugins is using mammoth/bdacli. Manually deploying the Agent/Plugin thru EM UI or emcli might work but it's not supported as Mammoth metadata is not updated accordingly to reflect that the cluster is monitored by EM. This will cause a problem during

1. Upgrading a cluster (won't automatically switch to the latest EM plug-in code )
2. Cluster extension (Added nodes won't be monitored)

Make sure to review these two documents before starting:

1. Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Big Data Appliance Plug-In Compatibility Matrix for BDA V4.5 and Higher (Doc ID 2267589.1).

2. Download/Deployment of the 12c EM May Bundle Patch to Support Discovery/Monitoring of Cloudera Manager Admin Console HTTPS URLS (Doc ID 2148611.1).
