Symptoms

Agent is reported to be unreachable with following collection status

$/AGENT_INST/bin/emctl status agent

reports Collection Status [UPLOAD_SYSTEM_FATAL_ERROR

Total Megabytes of XML files uploaded so far : 0
Number of XML files pending upload : 116
Size of XML files pending upload(MB) : 0.12
Available disk space on upload filesystem : 61.27%
Collection Status : [UPLOAD_SYSTEM_FATAL_ERROR]
Heartbeat Status : Ok

/AGENT_INST/sysman/log/gcagent_errors.log reports the following exception

2013-09-04 02:56:04,254 [25:GC.Upload[2]] ERROR - Disabling the upload system
due to protocol internal programming exception java.lang.NullPointerException
