EM 12c: Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.4 CLoud Control Login in IE 11 Shows Error: User Name and Password Required

Symptoms
Using MS Internet Explorer 11 to log in to Enterprise Manager (EM) 12.1.0.4 Cloud Control, the 'User Name and Password are required.' error is displayed.
On deleting the browser history, one can log in a first time, but after a logout, the same error is seen.
This is not observed when using Firefox or certified versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers.
