Defining Frequency / Minutes in Log Rotation Policy from Enterprise Manager (Doc ID 1959672.1)

Last updated on MARCH 28, 2025

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware - Version 11.1.1.6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Fusion Middleware 11gR1 11.1.1.6.0, when configuring the log file rotation, the frequency and retention period are stored with one decimal number in the configuration file logging.xml. Upon restarting the managed server, the managed server will fail because an integer value is expected for these parameters :

Changes

 Steps to reproduce :

1. Go to configuration of log files for a managed server (e.g. Farm > WebLogic Domain > {your domain} > AdminServer and select Logs > Logs Configuration and switch to the tab 'Log Files')
2. Change the log configuration of any of the log handlers :

  a. Add Times Based as retention policy
  b. Set Frequency and Retention Period to 60
  c. Press OK to save the changes

Note : the retention period and frequency are shown as 60.0

3. Restart the managed server

Reproduced with 11.1.1.7 and 11.1.1.6
