EM 12c: Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control Fails to Access ILOM Targets During Engineered System Discovery

(Doc ID 1983998.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 18, 2016

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Oracle Database - Version 12.1.0.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

During Exadata Database Machine discovery, EM fails to access ILOM targets, even though the same provided ILOM credentials successfully reach the ILOM outside of EM via ssh.

Note: this can affect other Engineered Systems such as ZDLRA, Exalogic and SuperCluster.

This environment has SUDO requirements, so SUDO named credentials were set up and all components were successfully discovered.

Target promotion with ILOM credentials subsequently fails with this error:

2015-01-20 15:19:29,511 [93674:D09D6228] INFO - >>> Reporting exception: oracle.sysman.emSDK.agent.client.exception.PerformOperationException: Failed to launch process: Auth-PDP: Required PDP Setting option:EMPDP_SETTINGS_SUDO not available (request id 1) <<<
oracle.sysman.emSDK.agent.client.exception.PerformOperationException: Failed to launch process: Auth-PDP: Required PDP Setting option:EMPDP_SETTINGS_SUDO not available

This error indicates that preferred credentials are configured for the DB node host with SUDO.

Changes

This environment has SUDO requirements, so SUDO named credentials were set up and all components were successfully discovered.
