Does The Matched Line Pattern Count Metric Use Wildcards As The DB Alert Log Monitoring File Metric Does? (Doc ID 1986470.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Does the Matched Line Pattern metric work the same way as the DB Alert Log metric where one can use wildcards to search for generic errors?

Example, if we place the following in the perl script for the metric:
 .*(ERROR: MESG)\D.*

Will it return the full line that is in the monitored log file as shown below:
Mar 2 18:12:13 <HOSTNAME> ERROR: MESG = this is a test ERROR IN LOG <USERNAME> WITH <DATE> Error in <LOGFILE> in executing interact_recon_support.sql
