EM 12c, EM 13c : Steps to Use Incident Rule Simulator for Events in Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (Doc ID 2083126.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 11, 2024

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

This document describes a new feature - Incident Rule simulator for Events, introduced in Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.4 Cloud Control, which helps the EM Administrator to verify the Incident Rule configuration.

The Rule Set Simulator provides an option to verify if the conditions selected in the Incident rule / ruleset match the actual events. After selecting a sample event, the simulator lists the matching rules which will be applied to that the event will apply as well as list their corresponding actions. This enables us to safely test the Incident Rules without the side effect of actually executing the actions specified in the rules
This is useful in production environments where actions such as help desk tickets may not be desirable, even as part of a test, if such notifications are not otherwise necessary.

 Note:

-  Simulation results will only list the matching incident rules, the notification / action will not be actually performed.
-  Rule simulation feature can be used only for Events and not for Incidents / Problems.
