EM13c: How to Modify OMS HTTPS and HTTP Console and Upload Ports after Enterprise Manager 13c Cloud Control Installation (Doc ID 2096928.1)

Last updated on MARCH 20, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 13.1.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

In Enterprise Manager (EM) 13c Cloud Control, the following ports are used by default during the installation:

HTTP Console Port: The first available free port from the range 7788 - 7798 is selected.
HTTP Upload Port: The first available free port from the range 4889 to 4898 is selected.

HTTPS Console Port: The first available free port from the range 7799 - 7809 is selected.
HTTPS Upload Port: 1159, If 1159 is not available, then the first available free port from the range 4899 to 4908 is selected.

The default ports being used and the precautions that must be taken while customizing ports are described in the following documents:

Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Advanced Installation and Configuration Guide
Release 13.1
Chapter 2 Understanding the Basics
2.1 Understanding the Basics of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Installation
2.1.12 What Ports Are Used for Installation?
Section: 2.1.12 What Ports Are Used for Installation?

<Note 387655.1> Defining ip_local_port_range?

This document demonstrates how to modify the HTTP and HTTPS console and upload ports after EM 13c Cloud Control installation.

IMPORTANT:

In general, as listed in the above documentation, use port numbers that are greater than 1024 and less than 65536. Do not set any port to a value lower than or equal to 1024. Ports up to 1024 are typically reserved for root users (super users). Therefore, make sure the port you customize is always set to a value greater than 1024.

Furthermore, to be consistent with the ip_local_port_range kernel parameter setting required for the operation of the OMS, do not assign port number values to EM functions that equal or exceed the minimum setting for ip_local_port_range. The specified setting for ip_local_port_range for the EM 13c OMS is 11000 minimum and 65536 maximum, seen like this in /etc/sysctl.conf:

net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 11000 65536

With a minimum value of 11000 for ip_local_port_range, do not assign values above 10999 to EM functions.
