Last updated on FEBRUARY 18, 2019

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Log File Monitoring Metric on a WebLogic server target only generates an alert/incident/notification for the first occurrence of the defined pattern.
For example  setting up monitoring of Weblogic Logs using below settings for the metrics :

a) Define the pattern to be matched:

Weblogic Server Target > Metric and Collection Settings > Log File Monitoring > Log File Pattern Matched Line Count
Pattern: /tmp/tmp.log;%WL-%; critical > 1

b) Create and incident rule to generate a notification based on log file monitoring metric alerts for this target type

The event and notification  are  generated only for the first occurrence of the string:  %WL-%.
Even if a new string is present in the log file, no new notifications are received.
