EM 12c, EM 13c: After Linux Kernel Patch or Upgrade, Enterprise Manager Cloud Control emctl Fails with Error: /bin/uname: Argument list too long (Doc ID 2281051.1)

Symptoms

After the upgrade of the host operating system to RHEL 7, an emctl command from the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Agent or OMS Oracle Home fail fails with following error:

EM 13c:

$ ./emctl start agent

command "/u00/app/agent/13c/agent_inst/bin/emctl start agent" failed [exit code: 126] "/u00/app/agent/13c/agent_13.2.0.0.0/bin/emctl: line 287: /bin/uname: Argument list too long
/u00/app/agent/13c/agent_13.2.0.0.0/bin/emctl: line 288: /bin/uname: Argument list too long
/u00/app/agent/13c/agent_13.2.0.0.0/bin/emctl: line 475: /u00/app/agent/13c/agent_13.2.0.0.0/perl/bin/perl: Argument list too long"

 

EM 12c:

$ ./emctl start oms
./emctl: line 287: /usr/bin/uname: Argument list too long
./emctl: line 288: /usr/bin/uname: Argument list too long
./emctl: line 475: /apps/oracle/middleware/perl/bin/perl: Argument list too long
