How to Suppress any EM Alert that has ORA-16665 from the Data Guard Status Metric (Doc ID 2341598.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2024

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Oracle Database - Version 12.1.0.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When monitoring a DataGuard Cluster (RAC) Database, Enterprise Manager (EM) Cloud Control occasionally sends Metric Alerts for/from the Primary database target about the Standby database target:

The Data Guard status of <StandbyDBname> is Error ORA-16665: timeout waiting for the result from a database.

Incident created by rule (Name = Incident management rule set for all targets, Create incident for critical metric alerts [System generated rule]). Rule Name=DBA Rules for DC,All Critical alerts, Rule Owner=SYSMAN

[These errors are with the Archive or Redo Log copy from Primary Data Center (DC) to DR DC, and when this happens, the copy recovers as normal on it's own. There are other monitoring and alerting functions in place to catch when the Log Apply Services or the Log Copy Services become too far behind, so this occasional EM timeout Alert is not needed.]

How can these EM alerts be suppressed?
