Fleet Maintenance: UPDATE_DB Failing with CRS-0245 when GI is Running as a Different User (Doc ID 2392781.1)

Symptoms

The UPDATE_DB operation from Fleet maintenance will fail with the following error when the GI is installed with a different user than the Database one (role separation is used).

Step: Migrate_DB_Instances

Error:

<DB_HOME_NEW>/bin/srvctl modify database -d <SID_NEW> -o <DB_HOME_NEW>/db_new

<SID_NEW>-o <DB_HOME_NEW>/db_new

PRCD-1163 : Failed to modify database ORCL

PRCR-1071 : Failed to register or update resource ora.orcl.db

CRS-0245: User doesn't have enough privilege to perform the operation

 

In this scenario, the database is running as user "oracle", where the GI is running as user "grid".
