Target Availability Event is Not Raised when the Weblogic Server is Manually Killed (Doc ID 2407441.1)

Last updated on JULY 24, 2018

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware - Version 12.1.0.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

There is a difference in the way Oracle Enterprise Manager(OEM) registers an event raised.  For a managed server process is stopped versus when the managed server process is killed.

The Managed Server is not raising a Target availability event if the process is killed manually from the host even though target status is reflecting down inside Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Console. However, when it is being stopped as per normal process  from Weblogic Server Administration console, the event is getting generated correctly.

Note: it is assumed  that a incident rule was configured for target availability events of Weblogic Server(WLS) targets  and metric thresholds are set for the WLS target response metric.
