Goal

Steps to setup SNMP For Cisco Ethernet Switch Targets

for EM 13.2 and higher where Cisco switch is running NX-OS using Infiniband monitoring.

Example switch is the Cisco Nexus 9000 which is used in Exadata X7 configurations. In Exadata X7 configuration the Cisco switch should be monitored using Infiniband monitoring as the Management port (which is a secondary network) is not connected.

To confirm that the Management Port is not connected, the following command can be run:

my01sw-ip> show interface mgmt0

mgmt0 is down (Link not connected)

admin state is up,

Hardware: GigabitEthernet, address: 111e.2d22.3344 (bia 111e.2d22.3344)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 0 Kbit, DLY 10 usec

  reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

  Encapsulation ARPA, medium is broadcast

  auto-duplex, auto-speed

  Auto-Negotiation is turned on

  Auto-mdix is turned off
