Goal

You want to use Enterprise Manager's Host Metric: "Log File Monitor" to monitor the /var/log/messages file for errors so it can alert on a particular error-log entry.

This document provides the steps that need to be followed.

NOTE: In the EM 12.1.0.4 release, by default the obsolete Log File Monitoring metric is disabled. Users are advised to migrate the existing Log File Monitoring configuration to the new Log File Monitor metric using the steps defined in Document 1606362.1.
