Symptoms

 Enterprise Manager 13.2.2

Trying to discover an Oracle Database version 12.2 with the following parameter set in the sqlnet.ora

SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_SERVER=12a

When attempting to perform a test connection during the discovery or when going to Oracle Datatabase --> Target Setup --> Monitoring Configuration and performing a

test connection after setting the above parameter, the following error is encountered:

ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol The Connect Descriptor was (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <host1-vip.oracle.com>)(PORT = 1526))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = <DBSID>)))
