Message on 11.1.1.7 FMWControl Startup: Failed to Start 10.2.0.5.0 EMAGENT (Doc ID 2526630.1)

Symptoms

Enterprise Manager (EM) 10.2.0.5 Agent, embedded within 11.1.1.7 Fusion Middleware Control (FMW) Control installation, fails to start:


failed to start a managed process after the maximum retry limit

Inspection of the agabend.log file shows an error like:

property 'agentTZregion' in '../sysman/config/emd.properties' contains an invalid value of '<some value>'.Agent start up can not proceed.This value might have been manually modified to be an incorrect value.This value needs to be set to one of the  values listed in '../sysman/admin/supportedtzs.lst'. Execute 'emctl config agent getTZ' and see if this is an appropriate value.
