What Is Splunk?
Splunk is a software platform to search, analyze and visualize the machine-generated data gathered from the websites, applications, sensors, devices etc. which make up your IT infrastructure and business. If you have a machine which is generating data continuously and you want to analyze the machine state in real time, then you can use Splunk.
Splunk (the product) captures, indexes, and correlates real-time data in a searchable repository from which it can generate graphs, reports, alerts, dashboards, and visualizations.
Splunk's mission is to make machine data accessible across an organization by identifying data patterns,[5] providing metrics, diagnosing problems, and providing intelligence for business operations. Splunk is a horizontal technology used for application management, security and compliance, as well as business and web analytics.
