Purpose

The SYSMAN password is stored encrypted in several places so that the Enterprise Manager Database Control web site can access the database without having to prompt the user for the SYSMAN password at each operation.

When the SYSMAN password is changed in the database, the new password must be provided to the Database Control web site configuration.

If this is not done, the web site cannot access the database, and the following error messages will be logged in the trace files:

 

This document explains How to change the password of the Database User SYSMAN without breaking the communication between the Database and the Database Control.

ATTENTION: Enterprise Manager 10g is now in extended support. Oracle strongly recommends that you upgrade your environment to a currently supported version.
