EM 13c: How To Install/Configure AOM For High Availability (Doc ID 2688279.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 13, 2020

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 13.3.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

AOM is useful for the Enterprise Manager (EM) Administrator to send an email notification to the user base even when the EM OMS itself is down. Like Enterprise Manager AOM can also be configured in HA environment. Setting up High Availability for AOM is as simple as setting up additional AOM instances. This helps ensure the availability of monitoring but also provides load sharing. The incoming alerts from agents can be directed to another AOM instance if one goes down via a server load balancer (SLB). To keep events from a target in the proper order, a single target will send a message to one AOM instance only. If that AOM instance goes down, the application assigns the responsibility of the queues previously managed by the down AOM instance to another instance. Not only are the incoming agent alerts shared by multiple AOM instances, but the work of sending out the notifications can also be shared among the AOM instances.

Various configurations of AOM

  1. Installing AOM on a Standalone environment
  2. Installing Primary AOM and a standby AOM
  3. Installing AOM on Multi-Node environment along with SLB
  4. Installing AOM on level 4 environment ( Primary site: 2 AOM Servers, Standby Site: 2 AOM Servers, Configured with SLB)
