Goal

1. What is SAP?

SAP provides “future-proof Cloud ERP solutions that will power the next generation of business.” With its advanced capabilities, SAP can boost your organization's efficiency and productivity by automating repetitive tasks, making better use of your time, money and resources.

2. SAP  With Oracle Database?

The database is used for storing two types of objects: the business-generated data and the SAP application programs. The business-generated data represents data objects created by users as part of various business processes. For instance, sales orders or customer primary records are classified as the business-generated data. SAP application programs are routines written in ABAP (special programming language used in SAP) that are loaded into the SAP application servers from the database at runtime.

3. How To Patch Or Upgrade SAP Oracle Databases using Fleet Maintenance Operations

When compared to conventional oracle databases, SAP application databases will have an additional Post step to run SAP supplied CATBSP file

To achieve SAP oracle database patching we have to run CATSBP file at the end of patching

Example:
############### RUN SAP BUNDLE PATCH "CATSBP"

echo "Run SAP supplied CATBSP file"

#$ORACLE_HOME/sapbundle/catsbp
$ORACLE_HOME/sapbundle/catsbp

echo "\n"
echo "\n"
echo "-------Please review output Log thoroughly to make sure all steps completed successfully------- "
echo "\n"
echo " ###############Script Steps are Finished Now###############"

In order to automate this operation for a large scale of databases fleet provides the functionality of Pre and Post scripts. CATSBP file operation can be performed using Post script.

Note: If there are any additional customized steps for your environment, we need to follow the similar strategy if creating pre/post scripts.
