Symptoms

When Trying to configure large "Ignore Pattern in Perl" for log file monitoring for Host target in Enterprise Manager
Host Target home page > Host Drop down > Metric and Collection Settings > Edit Advanced Settings: Log File Pattern Matched Line Count

*Log File Name : /var/log/messages
*Match Pattern in Perl : %
*Ignore Pattern in Perl : login|telnet|Unable to communicate with|Error trying to lock at offset|ERROR: skipping invalid data in audit file at offset|Error sending to host|WARNING : Repeat read audit log at offset|Hardware Error|Error PFA threshold reached|Error Unit Attention|TESTA
=>ref, "Ignore Pattern in Perl Pattern" length is 225 bytes(Exclusion of space).

Get below error when the OK button was pressed on the Metric and Collection Settings screen.

"Error : The length of the alert message is more than 4000 characters."

When tested it, it applies if it's less than 225 bytes.
