Purpose

"migrate_db" verb is used to clone existing databases to different oracle home of same version Using Enterprise Manager and also this can be done via emcli verb and GUI option available.

Scope

"RMAN_CLONE" method is suggested for customers who would like to clone the existing databases to another oracle home of same version. This is highly recommended method for cloning databases of same version using rman duplicate.

Steps outlined in this document are applicable for Enterprise Manager users cloning existing databases to another oracle home of same version using RMAN_CLONE method.

a. This method can be used for closing the multi tenant databases on to different oracle home.
b. This method can be used for migration of databases of same version.
