Purpose

"migrate_db: verb can be used either to create a standby database using primary database of same version or it can perform switchover of newly created standby to primary database Using Enterprise manager. This can be done via emcli verb and GUI option available.

Scope

"ONLINE_DATAGUARD" method is suggested for customers who would like to create standby database/primary database on different oracle home of same version.

Steps outlined in this document are applicable for Enterprise Manager users creating standby databases for primary database and perform switch over of the standby using ONLINE_DATAGUARD method.

a. This method can not be used for creating standby for multitenant database from existing primary multitenant database.
b. This method can be used for migration of databases of same version.
