How to change SNMP Engine ID on Infiniband Switches (Doc ID 2745876.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 22, 2021

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Exadata - Version to [Release 13c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

SNMP v3 notifications from Infiniband switches configured with the Enterprise Manager Systems Infrastructure switch require a unique Engine ID for every switch on a given agent. It is possible that some switches may be configured from the factory with duplicate Engine IDs causing a race condition during switch discovery. This results in only the first discovered switch with the non-unique Engine ID ever getting SNMP v3 notifications. It will also cause a timeout error message in the console or agent log file and manifests in the Enterprise Manager UI as the switch status showing pending. To correct this the non-unique switch(s) Engine ID will need to be changed.
