How to Enable the Metric Browser/Agent Browser for the Oracle Management Agent [Video] (Doc ID 276350.1)

Last updated on JULY 05, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 10.1.0.2 to 11.1.0.1 [Release 10.1 to 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The Metric Browser is a troubleshooting tool that can be used to see the 'raw' data being collected by the Enterprise Manager Management Agent.  When enabled, the Metric browser can be accessed via a web browser (e.g Internet Explorer, Netscape or Firefox) using a URL of the form:

The Metric browser is disabled by default.

The Metric browser can be enabled for any management agent when there is a need to see the raw data point values collected at the present moment in time by that agent.  This means that the metric browser needs to be enabled on the agent machine (for the particular agent that needs to be investigated).   For example, the metrics browser could be used to view the metric "problemTbsp" for a particular database to query what values the agent currently retrieves for the tablespace full % metric.

Tip: There is also a video attached to this note - please download from the 'attachments' section ("Demonstration of how to enable the Agent Metric Browser")

Scope

This note is valid for all versions of the Oracle Management Agent up to 11.1.0.1.  There is a different note for the 12c agent.  Please see <note:1368415.1> for information on the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c agent.
