Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A log file characeter string pattern to be monitored is configured in Enterprise Manager (EM) 13c Cloud Control using the Log File Pattern Matched Line Count Metric.

An alert should be sent whenever the error configured in the pattern is logged in the log file. However, EM is sending an alert at random times with the number occurrences of the error in the log file.

The metric is configured to alert on the "file not found" error in the file osb_server.out file:

2) The "file not found" error is created and logged in the osb_server.out file.

3) EM is expected to send an alert within 5 mins (check is configured to run every 5 mins).

4) No alert is sent within 5 minutes of the the error.

5) At random times, 10 hours after alert has been observed, EM is sending an alert with the number of occurences of the error from the file.
