Last updated on JULY 07, 2023

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for Oracle Database - Version 13.4.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Enterprise Manager (EM) 13.4, annotations that were added under Oracle Database menu -> Configuration -> History, Change Details keep disappearing for target database.

The problem is that when we go back and Search there is no Annotation added, Annotation is empty, missing and we were sure that we added it.

eg.  In EM Cloud Control -> Targets -> Databases ->Target name: PROD,  Navigate to Oracle Database menu -> Configuration -> History, Add Annotation "invalid object was recompiled"; some of the annotations that customer edited were missing.

Q1. What is the annotation retention period? How long it remains in the database so that is visible?
select * from EM_ECM_HISTORY_OFF_TTS

Ans: 12 months is the default

Q2. How do we find when the annotation is expired?

Ans: In EM Cloud Control -> Setup -> Manage -> Repository
The default for partition tables is 12 months
Partition Retention
Table/ Group Name --- Retention Period
EM_ECM_HIST_CONFIG_GROUP 12 months

These tables MGMT_DELTA_ENTRY_E','MGMT_DELTA_ID_VALUES_E','MGMT_DELTA_ENTRY_VALUES_E are part of this Table/ Group Name: EM_ECM_HIST_CONFIG_GROUP which has 12 months retention period.
