Removal of Group not Reflected in EM Page (Doc ID 471088.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager for iAS - Version: 10.1.3.1.0 to 10.1.3.3.0
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

When using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1, deleting a group from the EM page does not result in the successful removal of the group from the EM page.

Tests show that the Group is not removed correctly only when any OC4J under that group is removed with the "removeinstance" command line command.

The following tests can be used to verify the behavior:

TEST 1

a. Start Application Server 10.1.3.1 and log into the EM page.
b. Create a new group, say "Hello" .
c. Create a new OC4J instance, say "Instance1", and place it under group Hello .
d. Remove the instance using the command line. Make sure the instance is stopped first.

<$ORACLE_HOME>\bin>removeinstance -instanceName Instance1
Removing OC4J instance "Instance1"...
The OC4J instance "Instance1" is removed from the group "Hello".

e. Refresh the EM page. The instance is not shown. This shows that the OC4J was removed successfully.
f.  Remove the group "Hello" by clicking on the "remove" Button under groups.

On refreshing the EM screen, the group "Hello" still shows in the groups table.

TEST 2

a. Start Application Server 10.1.3.1 and log into the EM page .
b. Create a new group, say "Hello1". In this test the Group is empty and does not have any OC4J instances under it.
c. Remove the group "Hello1" by clicking on the "remove" Button under groups.

On refreshing the EM screen, "Hello1" group is not seen on the EM page.

TEST 3

a. Start Application Server 10.1.3.1 and log into the EM page .
b. Create a new group, say "Hello2".
c. Create a new OC4J instance "Instance2" and place it under group Hello2.
d. Remove the group "Hello2" by clicking on the "remove" Button under groups.(Let the Instance2 be down under this group. Do not delete the OC4J Instance2) .

On refreshing the EM screen, "Hello2" group is not seen on the EM page .

The tests shown above reveal that the group is not removed successfully only in case of TEST 1.
