Basic Troubleshooting Guide For Grid Control 10g Oracle Management Server (OMS) Midtier (Doc ID 550395.1)

This note is based on Grid Control (GC) 10.2.0.4, can be applied to other 10.2 versions.


Purpose



Grid Control(GC) installation consists of three major components:

  • Oracle Application Server - Oracle Management Server( OMS)
  • Oracle Database                  - Oracle Mangement Server(OMS) Repository
  • EM agent


Each major component's sub-directory can be viewed as a separate ORACLE_HOME:

  • <GG_ORACLE_HOME>/oms10g
  • <GG_ORACLE_HOME>/db10g
  • <GG_ORACLE_HOME>/agent10g

 

  • OPMN
  • DCM
  • Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
  • OC4J
  • WebCache (WC)
  • Application Server Control (ASC)


Many of the above OMS components (DCM, OHS, OC4J, WC ) are managed by opmn. Some of the operations are:

  • start
  • stop
  • death detection/health check/restarts
  • component restarts
