Symptoms

New install of AD4J in a new folder tree on the OEM Grid Control server, following the install guide:

Installation Guide 10g Release 4 (10.2.0.4) - E11085-02 - September 2008).

Modified the adminDB.properties manually, ran "apachectl start" and started
jservctl manually, then getting into the console (port 3500).
This allows you to create the needed DB objects.
There is a login screen, but you don't know what credentials it wants !
It doesn't like any of the existing DB name/password :
