Last updated on DECEMBER 13, 2019

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 10.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.5 [Release 10.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

New 10.2.0.5 Agent Install on Linux fails to start right after the installation.

The <AGENT_HOME>/sysman/log/emagent.nohup shows:

----- Tue Jun 16 10:24:10 2009::Agent Launched with PID 9970 at time Tue Jun 16 10:24:10 2009 -----
----- Tue Jun 16 10:24:10 2009::Time elapsed between Launch of Watchdog process and execing
EMAgent is 0 secs -----
(pid=<pid>): starting emagent version 10.2.0.5.0
OMS does not understand the timezone region of the agent. Either start the OMS using the extended list of time zones supported by the database or pick a value of time zone from /AGENT_HOME/sysman/admin/nsupportedtzs.lst , update the property 'agentTZRegion' in the file /AGENT_HOME/sysman/config/emd.properties and
restart the agent. A value which is around an offset of +01:00 from GMT should be picked.
(pid=<pid>): emagent now exiting abnormally - initialization failure. Consult '.trc' and '.log' files.

The 'emctl config agent getTZ' command retunrs:
