Error Exporting a Financial Reporting (FR) Report in a Book to Excel

Symptoms
You are exporting a Financial Reporting report in a book to Excel. You receive the following error:
"A DDE error has occurred and a description of the error cannot be displayed because it is too long. If the filename or path is long, try renaming the file or copying it to a different folder"
During the export process, you tried to Save the report instead of opening it in Excel. It saved with long name containing a number of extra characters.
Example:
'Q4, Member1, , Member5, [Member6 Member7], Member8, Member9, Member10, Member11)[1].xls'.
When you open this file in Excel, you receive the DDE error again.
